Legal Requirments
An international driver's license is officially required to drive in Spain.
The minimum driving age is 18years.
The speed limit is 120 km/h on the motorways, 100 km/h on the fast lanes and 60 km/h in town.
Seat belts must be worn in both the front and back of the vehicle.
The alcohol limit is 0.8 pro mille.
The police are empowered to levy 'spot fines' for minor trafic violations.
(It is better to be aware of this than to ever discover this for yourself!)
The Roads in Spain
The road infrastructure has been much improved in recent times but there are still a number of
'scenic routes' which if taken are slow.
On those routes which have been improved there is no
great time saving in taking the motorways.
If you do take a motorway bear in mind that Spains motorways are toll roads.
